I was still grabbing her arm. I didn't want her to go. I wrote her that letter to make her come back, and now that she was here again I didn't want to let her go. She pulled away my hand kindly and shook her head slowly. "Okay then..." I thought, resigned. Then Amy went out of the room. I leaned my head on the pillow again, and tried to fall asleep.

Some minutes later, she came back with a chair and sat next to me. «You were really thinking that I would have left you?» She said with a smile. I smiled back, tiredly. She took my hand. «I'm sorry you feel like this, Sonikku.» «Don't worry... I'll... get better... in time...» I said. I wasn't really sure if that would have happened, though. Maybe in my voice there was something that made Amy think of it, because she caressed my head sadly. «I'll always be here, Sonikku.» «What... do you mean?» «I mean that I'll sleep here next to you, and whenever you'll need me I'll be right here.» She explained, smiling. «Why...?» I asked, confused. Her cheeks became red. «Well, because that's what... friends do, right?» I smiled weakly. "I know you wanted to say “lovers”, Ames." I thought. She blushed more looking at me and lowered her head embarrassed.

«Sonic The Hedgehog?» A nurse asked, coming inside the room. «Yeah...» I answered. She put some fruit in a basket on my night-table and went away fast. «No... that horrible fruit... again...» I murmured, looking at the basket. «You don't like it? Fruit's good for hospitalized people.» Amy said. «Yeah... say that after looking at that fruit...» She looked inside the basket and wide opened her eyes. «You're right! This fruit is horrible. All the apples are brown, not red, and the oranges have some holes inside them. The grapes are all small and black. That's disgusting!» She said, laughing. Then she picked up her bag and took out a sachet with a chili-dog inside it, so she gave it to me. «Eat this instead of that fruit.» I smiled and ate it. «Thanks, Ames...» «You're welcome.» She made a big smile.

I still don't know what would I have done without her.

She gave me hope and a smile, all I wanted back then.

She was my hope to get away from that hospital.

I held her hand tightly.
